SUMMARY:Women Like Us - Ellen Briggs and Mandy Nolan
DESCRIPTION:Ellen Briggs and Mandy Nolan present Women Like Us: the combination of two of the country’s most respected women comics. Wil Anderson has called Nolan ‘Australia’s funniest non famous comedian’.  Arj Barker is in awe of Briggs\, he reckons ‘she’s in a league of her own.’ \nThis touring show continues to evolve. If you’ve seen a Women Like Us show – this one they are bringing back to Canberra on November 11 is different.  The women have found the ultimate format to grow exciting new work\, and call in their tribe. \nHailing from Northern NSW Mandy Nolan almost retired the vagina jokes and became an MP. At the Federal election she ran as the Greens candidate for Richmond and came close to winning. The full story was aired on Compass on the ABC – and while Nolan was passionate about taking her jibe to Canberra\, she’s delighted to be back on the circuit. \n‘It’s not ICAC I worry about. It’s neat hair. And not swearing’ she laughs. \nAnd while Nolan was thinking about heading to Canberra\, Briggs hails from there and always says “you can take the girl outta Belco\, but you can’t take the Belco outta the girl”.  Growing up in Page way before it was cool\, Briggs cut her chops in Federal Government jobs with different kinds of comedians to the ones she works with now! \nWomen Like Us now numbers in excess of 250 shows\, with sold out shows at Melbourne Comedy Festival and a bevy of 5 star reviews\, including a show-stopping performance at the Women’s Gala at Melbourne Town Hall. In Adelaide at the Fringe \nFestival\, Mandy Nolan and Ellen Briggs were officially declared ‘Goddesses’ by the Weekend Notes writer who said ‘everything they say and do is the absolute word of sacred truth.’ \nWomen Like Us is stand up at its best \, where Ellen and Mandy talk about housework\, chickens\, love\, big undies\, disappointment\, resentment\, wonder bras\, domestic violence\, ageing parents\, sex when you’re drunk\, fit bits\, yoga farts and being a menopausal woman dealing with teenage angst. \nThey’re overworked\, overweight and over it… \n  \nVenue: Big Band Room\nWhen: Saturday 11th November 7pm\nDuration: 2 hours (including intermission)\nTickets: $42.00 plus $0.50 ticketing fee \n  \n \n\n

SUMMARY:Canberra Comedy Club featuring Brett Blake
DESCRIPTION:Featuring this February\, we are in for a real treat. Brett Blake - The man\, the mullet\, the legend. A whip-smart\, high-spirited stand up who has performed widely across Australia. \nHis unpretentious look belies a vulnerability and willingness to explore complex issues on stage. His material runs the gamut of living with dyslexia to truck licenses\, and he is the only comic who physically built some of venues he has performed in.  Brett’s audiences have been growing as much as his second-hand motorbike collection – exponentially. It is par the course for him to sell out entire seasons at comedy festivals and venues around the country.  Brett has starred on Common Sense for Network 10\, is a regular guest on countless Australian radio networks\, has a hand in running Melbourne’s Comedy at Coopers Inn\, is a regular visitor to The Little Dum Dum Club. He also co-hosts the bonkers double-dare fiesta that is Flat Stick with Nick Capper. \nMost recently\, you can see him in his undies in new Bonds campaign with Dustin Martin or stealing scenes in the new Jamie Dornan thriller for Stan/Two Brothers\, The Tourist.  Brett’s one hour comedy special Bogan Genius was released last year and is available now on Paramount +. \nStill\, the mullet runs deep. \nBrett will appear with local supports. \n \n\n  \nBrett is a pretty big deal\, here is a clip from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala.
