If you’ve seen a Women Like Us show – this one they are bringing back to Canberra on November 11 is different.  The women have found the ultimate format to grow exciting new work\, and call in their tribe. \nHailing from Northern NSW Mandy Nolan almost retired the vagina jokes and became an MP. At the Federal election she ran as the Greens candidate for Richmond and came close to winning. The full story was aired on Compass on the ABC – and while Nolan was passionate about taking her jibe to Canberra\, she’s delighted to be back on the circuit. \n‘It’s not ICAC I worry about. It’s neat hair. And not swearing’ she laughs. \nAnd while Nolan was thinking about heading to Canberra\, Briggs hails from there and always says “you can take the girl outta Belco\, but you can’t take the Belco outta the girl”.  Growing up in Page way before it was cool\, Briggs cut her chops in Federal Government jobs with different kinds of comedians to the ones she works with now! \nWomen Like Us now numbers in excess of 250 shows\, with sold out shows at Melbourne Comedy Festival and a bevy of 5 star reviews\, including a show-stopping performance at the Women’s Gala at Melbourne Town Hall. In Adelaide at the Fringe \nFestival\, Mandy Nolan and Ellen Briggs were officially declared ‘Goddesses’ by the Weekend Notes writer who said ‘everything they say and do is the absolute word of sacred truth.’ \nWomen Like Us is stand up at its best \, where Ellen and Mandy talk about housework\, chickens\, love\, big undies\, disappointment\, resentment\, wonder bras\, domestic violence\, ageing parents\, sex when you’re drunk\, fit bits\, yoga farts and being a menopausal woman dealing with teenage angst. \nThey’re overworked\, overweight and over it… \n  \nVenue: Big Band Room\nWhen: Saturday 11th November 7pm\nDuration: 2 hours (including intermission)\nTickets: $42.00 plus $0.50 ticketing fee \n  \n \n\n
